— The Author's Story

Written From the Inside of the Experience

Greg Traver spent decades chasing success, climbing the ladder, and running on an endless fuel of coffee, smoking and stress. Until his own body called a halt. What began as long workdays and an insane work schedule ended in a fight for his life. After three catastrophic "widow maker" heart attacks and two battles with heart failure, against all odds, Greg survived — but the real journey began the day he woke up in the ICU and realized that life would never be the same.

In his new book, Hope After Heart Failure, Traver opens the door to the world beyond the Emergency Department — to the physical, emotional, and spiritual struggle that follows when the machines go quiet and the doctors step away. He writes with the authority of someone who has lived what medicine can't explain and repeatedly defied the odds. "Doctors can do great things," he says, "but they can't tell you how to live with what comes after."

This is the book Greg wished he had when his own journey began — a guide for anyone learning how to live again after their heart and life have changed forever. Honest, compassionate, and deeply human, Hope After Heart Failure provides readers with a framework on which to accelerate their recovery.

“I didn't write this book because I have all the answers. I wrote it because I've lived the questions — and I've seen what's possible on the other side of them.” — Greg Traver
